Tan Cang Pilot: Tan Cang - Hiep Phuoc Terminal welcomes 5-Star cruise ship for the first time

On the morning of December 11, 2017, the 5-star cruise ship Seven Seas Voyager made its debut at Tan Cang - Hiep Phuoc Terminal in Ho Chi Minh City, marking a significant milestone in the terminal's capacity to handle large and diverse vessels.

The warm welcome extended to the crew and tourists visiting Ho Chi Minh City was graced by Mr. Ngô Minh Thuấn, Deputy General Director of Saigon Newport Corporation, alongside the dedicated staff of Saigon Newport Corporation and Tan Cang - Hiep Phuoc Terminal. The cruise ship, registered in the Bahamas, boasts impressive dimensions with a length of 206.5 meters, a width of 28.83 meters, a height of 56.1 meters, a draft of 7.05 meters, a maximum passenger capacity of 700, and a crew of 450 sailors. The ship's itinerary included ports of call at Yangon (Myanmar), Koh Samui, Khlong Toei (Thailand), Ho Chi Minh City, Nha Trang, and Sanya, offering a wide range of services such as sightseeing, tourism, accommodations, and entertainment.

The arrival of the first 5-star cruise ship at Tan Cang - Hiep Phuoc Terminal is a momentous event for the maritime industry in the southern region. It underscores the seamless cooperation between the Tan Cang Pilot’s team under Tan Cang Pilot, the captain and crew of Seven Seas Voyager. This event also signifies the diversification of tourism activities in Ho Chi Minh City.

Mr. Ngô Minh Thuấn, Deputy General Director of Saigon Newport Corporation, emphasized that welcoming the inaugural cruise ship at Tan Cang - Hiep Phuoc Terminal underscores the capabilities of Saigon Newport Corporation. The corporation's prowess extends beyond being a leading container port operator in Vietnam, showcasing its proficiency in accommodating cruise ships for tourism.

Mr. Cao Xuân Dũng, Director of Tan Cang - Hiep Phuoc Terminal, highlighted the port's swift response to enhance its infrastructure and equipment to meet the requirements of receiving cruise ships in accordance with international standards. Collaborating with the Ho Chi Minh City Maritime Administration, they established a comprehensive plan for receiving cruise ships, taking into account specific technical specifications tailored to the port's conditions, including draft, water area, and turning basin. All of these measures align with the Government's Decree No. 58/2017/ND-CP of May 10, 2017, which details certain provisions of the Vietnamese Maritime Code.

Tan Cang - Hiep Phuoc Terminal, a member of Saigon Newport Corporation, officially commenced operations in December 2014. Part of the fifth group of seaports approved by the Prime Minister, the port currently handles various vessel types, including Ro-Ro ships, bulk cargo vessels, and cruise ships. Its strategic location between the southern area of Ho Chi Minh City and the East Sea, in proximity to the belt road and several industrial zones, makes Tan Cang - Hiep Phuoc Terminal an integral part of the satellite port network within the Cai Mep terminal system under Saigon Newport Corporation's comprehensive logistics services.
